Tulane Journal: Blog Entry 20

Hi all,
The Recovery Center went back into full operation today. Part of the staff spent Saturday uncovering equipment and getting computers back online so that today we could be set to get back down to business.

Of course we also had to deal with issues caused by the storm like a few water leaks and malfunctioning HVAC systems. We are also in the process of reviewing all of our evacuation procedures to take in account issues we hit and things we learned.

One thing we learned was that having our staff spread far and wide means communication is both critical and tough.

Our call list helped with that as well as me setting up an emergency blog that could be updated quickly. I cannot even begin to tell you how great the whole staff was throughout this.

Whether it was going to get needed supplies or pitching in to help prepare everything for evacuation every one rose to the call. It was a scary situation for many of our staff being new to the whole hurricane drill. I was very proud of the way everyone was looking out for each other. I know that I hope we don’t have to do it again anytime soon.

We are now working toward moving load of books over to Tulane on Wednesday.

Take care
