Tulane Journal: Blog Entry 7

April 29 - Hi every one,

Tulane University Libraries and Library Associates Companies welcomed members of the University community and the New Orleans area to the Recovery Center Open House on April 16, 2008. Institutions that attended the event, included: Loyola University Library, Loyola University History Department, UNO History Department, Xavier University Library, the National Park Service, Amistad Research Center, the Rudolph Matas Medical Library (Tulane University), the LSU Health Sciences Library, the Ascension Parish Library, the Terrebonne Parish Library, the St. John the Baptist Parish Library, and Historic New Orleans Collection.

Guests were welcomed by Lance Query, Dean of Libraries. Provost Michael Bernstein addressed the group and spoke to the challenges faced by Tulane immediately following Hurricane Katrina. Deb Schwarz, LAC President spoke regarding LAC’s role in the project and finally Andy Corrigan, Associate Dean recognized Tulane staff that have had an integral part in the project.

Guests were able to view displays of materials that had been restored and see the Recovery Center in action. It was an exciting event that allowed us to share what we are doing. Click here to read our press release.
