Deborah Schwarz is the founder and president of Library Associates Companies, heading a national consulting and staffing organization for information professionals, with offices in Los Angeles (headquarters), Denver, and Rockville, MD, providing recruiting, placement, project staffing, and outsourcing solutions to libraries, non-profit agencies, government agencies, hospitals, corporations and firms.

Ms. Schwarz is responsible for business development and marketing on a national level, and directs the overall strategic growth and planning for LAC. Ms. Schwarz provides leadership and guidance to LAC, and its various divisions, including Strategic Staffing Associates (Denver), Medical Library Consultants (MLC) and LAC's newest venture, LibGig, a social networking site for information professionals. She also acts as senior advisor/consultant on specific projects, particularly when the project involves the evaluation or auditing of employees and staffing project management. Ms. Schwarz is a frequent author and speaker on topics such as outsourcing, benchmarking salaries, recruiting and staff retention.

Through Ms. Schwarz's leadership, LAC has grown from a small organization with a handful of part-time employees to multi-office corporation employing more than 200 employees, many of whom are outsourced to clients ranging from private law firms to large government agencies.

Ms. Schwarz received her BA from the University of Michigan and her Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Toronto. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including AIIP, SLA, ALA, California Staffing Professionals (CSP), ASIDIC and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
