Will working for an outsourcing company, like Library Associates Companies help or hurt my career?
Outsourcing has become standard in many industries. In the library field many companies or organizations wish to maintain a library but wish to turn over the hiring, payroll and administrative functions to a Company that has the credentials to provide these services. We have been successful in outsourcing many libraries. The employee works onsite and is directly supervised by someone in the company who has contracted with Library Associates. Library Associates pays salary, benefits and works in tandem with the company in terms of performance reviews or any problems or concerns that may arise. So, on a resume an employee can state they worked for X company but the library was managed by Library Associates. In our experience, this has never impeded a candidate from a career change.

I don’t want my current employers to find out that I am looking for a job. How discreet is Library Associates Companies?
Library Associates always asks a candidate if it is acceptable to contact a current employer for a reference. Unless the candidate gives us express approval, we only contact those previous employers or other references that have been sanctioned by the candidate
